Data sources & status

Every number on this site shows its source, timestamp and status. This page explains where data comes from and how to enable live market quotes.

Providers

What the status labels mean

Live: Retrieved from the source within its refresh interval.
Retrieved from the provider within its refresh interval; for quotes, the last trade is under 30 minutes old.
Delayed: Official daily publication, not an intraday value.
Retrieved from the provider, but the value is an official end-of-day publication or an older quote. Check the as-of date.
Cached: The source could not be reached. Showing the last data retrieved successfully.
The provider could not be reached, so the last successfully retrieved data is shown with its original retrieval time.
Sample data: Illustrative sample values. This is not real market data.
Illustrative values used for stocks and ETFs only when no quote provider is configured. They are not market data and carry no timestamp. Off by default; turn them on with ENABLE_SAMPLE_DATA=true. Rates, yields and news are never simulated.

A Stale warning appears when an observation is older than expected for its publication schedule (for example, a daily rate not updated for five days).
